Workplace Experiences of LGBTQIA + Individuals in Portugal

Although Portuguese Labour Code forbids discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity, 20% of LGBTQIA + workers report workplace discrimination, potentially because non-discrimination policies do not protect against more covert types discrimination. This study aimed to characterize support among using online surveys capture satisfaction in the workplace. Quantitative results were computed STATA, Version 17.0. Qualitative data was analysed NVivo 12. The sample included 60 participants who self-identified as a or minority. only 31.9% reported experiencing -based at work, 30% being completely out work. findings revealed two main themes regarding adverse experiences (overt discrimination), neutral positive (acceptance liberation after disclosure work), participants’ vision truly inclusive supportive (instrumental changes values). These indicate that attributable identity still exists workplaces despite anti-discrimination protections legal, institutional, social is needed ensure safe for people.
